I just don’t see the point of it.  If I have a bike that runs, I am happy. Not to mention the fact that these items are typically less about performance than look and….they could be shit. The point? I like wood grain. This could be any top of the line crank, it’s hand etched. I’m going to get handmade leather bar wraps too. Why? Because I think it looks nice. I’m not racing. If I am, it’s going to be fun alley cats and not some crazy serious thing.  Just because you got into cyclocross recently doesn’t mean you have any right to turn into some kind of gear snob and talk down to the people that care about aesthetics. Actually, my life has revolved around bikes for the past 2+ years, and I’m probably on my bike more than I am in my own goddamn home. I’ve recently added cyclocross to that - this is not a new part of my life.  Sorry, lady.  I’m slightly opinionated simply because I know many people who know shit about bikes (and not to say I know a ton) and just buy whatever looks nice.  I just don’t give that much of a fuck about ~asthetics~ because I’m not riding a bike to look cool. The only people that don’t care about the aesthetics of their bike are those that are colorblind or unfortunate enough to ride a Frankenstein of a bike.  With that said, I wouldn’t use those cranks because they look like dangerous Lasco garbage. If you look closely, it isn’t even machine walled. I /care/ a good amout about the aesthetics of my bikes.  I’ve got some pretty goddamn cute ones.  I just don’t go out of my way to spend money/time on useless decorative stuff besides maybe bartape.
